Deutsch: Haiterbach wurde unter der Herrschaft der Grafen von Hohenberg im späten 13. Jahrhundert Stadt und von diesen 1363 an Württemberg verkauft. Der von Silber und Rot geteilte Schild der Stadtgründer - zeitweise allerdings auch irrtümlich silbern und schwarz tingiert - bildete vom ersten Beleg, dem ältesten Stadtsiegel aus dem 14. Jahrhundert (Abdrucke seit 1403), an bis ins 18. Jahrhundert das Wappen der Stadt. Seit etwa 1767 begegnet als Stadtwappen ein Adlerfang unter einer Hirschstange. Während die Hirschstange aus dem Wappen der Landesherrschaft übernommen ist, gibt es für den Adlerfang keine sichere Erklärung. Seit etwa 1902 wird der hohenbergische geteilte Schild mit dem jüngeren Wappenbild kombiniert geführt, wobei die ornamentale Gitterung des unteren Feldes, die schon im ältesten Siegel erscheint, in rot-silberne Rauten verändert wurde (siehe Fridingen an der Donau, Landkreis Tuttlingen). |
