Object history
Deutsch: Der Abtsstab erinnert an die einstige Zugehörigkeit des Ortes zum Kloster Maulbronn. Der Leuchter als Symbol der Waldenser weist darauf hin, dass hier 1699 Waldenser angesiedelt wurden, die den Ortsteil Lucerne gründeten (1808 mit Wurmberg zusammengeschlossen) und sich später mit den aus Bärenthal (Landkreis Tuttlingen) ausgewiesenen und 1717 in Neubärental auf Gemarkung Wurmberg angesiedelten Reformierten kirchlich zusammenschlossen. Das Wappen und die Flagge wurden am 18. Oktober 1962 vom Innenministerium verliehen. Zuvor wurde von der Gemeinde als „redendes" Wappenbild in Gold eine blaue Schlange verwendet. Dieses Wappen war 1931 nach dem schon im 19. Jahrhundert gebräuchlichen Siegelbild gestaltet, später aber von der Gemeinde als nicht befriedigend abgelehnt worden.
