Object history
Deutsch: Der Name der Gemeinde geht auf eine 1699 gegründete Glashütte zurück, die von 1705 bis 1794 Spiegel herstellte. Im Gerichtssiegel von 1730 ist ein Wandspiegel dargestellt. Das am 17. September 1958 vom Innenministerium mit der Flagge verliehene Wappen (in Gold über grünem Dreiberg ein schwarz gerahmter silberner Spiegel) wurde von der 1971 durch Eingliederung von Jux und Nassach vergrößerten Gemeinde wieder abgelegt, während die Flagge gültig blieb. Am 18. Februar 1981 verlieh das Landratsamt ein entsprechend tingiertes neues „redendes" Wappen. Es vereinigt in sich Motive aus den drei früheren Ortswappen und weist zugleich auf die landschaftliche Lage hin.
