Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen ist vom Generallandesarchiv entworfen und von der Gemeinde im Jahre 1907 angenommen worden. Der Wellenbalken weist auf die Lage der Odenwaldgemeinde im Quellbereich des Mudbachs hin, während die Räder und die Tingierung an das Wappen des Erzstifts Mainz und damit an die mainzische Ortsherrschaft vom Mittelalter bis 1802 hinweisen. Auf Anraten des Generallandesarchivs hat auch die neue, durch Zusammenschluss und Eingemeindung von neun Orten gebildete Gemeinde Mudau dieses Wappen beibehalten. Alle Ortsteile waren einst kurmainzisch, und für die Mehrzahl ist der Wellenbalken als Bachsymbol ein „redendes" Zeichen für Lage und Name des Ortes. Das Wappen und die Flagge wurden am 6. Dezember 1977 vom Landratsamt Neckar-Odenwald-Kreis neu verliehen.
