Object history Das Kammrad weist auf die für die Stadt sehr wichtige Industrialisierung hin. Der Wellenbalken stellt die Lage des Ortes am Lech dar. Die Farben Rot und Silber geben zwei historische Hinweise: zum einen auf das Augsburger Domkapitel, das in der Gemeinde reich begütert war und den größten Teil des Ortes besaß; bis 1803 unterhielt es hier ein Obervogtamt. Zum anderen gehörte Gersthofen mit Stettenhofen und Langweid zur Reichslandvogtei und war seit 1426 Reichslehen unter der Verwaltung der Stadt Augsburg. Die Reichsstadt hatte hier ein Untervogtamt eingerichtet zur Wahrung ihrer Grundherrschaftsrechte. 1969 wurde Gersthofen zur Stadt erhoben.
