Italiano: Dal 2004, i nove comuni di Castro, Corzoneso, Dongio, Largario, Leontica, Lottigna, Marolta, Ponto Valentino e Prugiasco sono stati riuniti sotto il nuovo nome di Acquarossa. Nella parte centrale della Valle di Blenio si trova una sorgente ad altissimo contenuto minerale. A contatto con l'aria si deposita una massa gelatinosa di colore rosso. Il fango di Acquarossa è uno dei pochi fanghi curativi naturali della Svizzera. Questa "acqua rossa" è stata scelta per il nome del nuovo comune. È quindi ovvio che il termine Acquarossa sia simboleggiato anche nello stemma. La barra rossa ondulata assume questo compito.
Deutsch: Seit dem Jahr 2004 sind die neun Gemeinden Castro, Corzoneso, Dongio, Largario, Leontica, Lottigna, Marolta, Ponto Valentino und Prugiasco unter dem neuen Namen Acquarossa vereinigt. Im mittleren Abschnitt des Bleniotals befindet sich eine Mineralquelle mit einem sehr hohen Mineralgehalt. Durch den Kontakt mit der Luft lagert sich eine rote gallertartige Fangomasse ab. Der Fango von Acquarossa gehört zu den wenigen natürlichen Heilfangos der Schweiz. Dieses "rote Wasser" wurde nun für den Namen der neuen Gemeinde gewählt. Es ist deshalb naheliegend, dass der Begriff Acquarossa auch im Wappen symbolisiert wird. Der rote Wellenbalken übernimmt diese Aufgabe.
