English: Detail (interior view) of a painting of an "idealised" traditional Japanese New Year celebration; it is somewhat unclear if the celebrations are being held on the "old" or "new" date for new year in Japan (Chinese traditional, or "Western" new year), possibly this is intended as a depiction of an "old date" celebration, given the tree-blossoms & more spring-like vegetation; second half of the 19th century, very late Edo period to Meiji era (more probably Meiji); painting is signed & sealed, artist not (yet) identified -- help needed!; handpainted on silk, kakejiku (scroll-mounted-painting)
