English: Portrait of Ernest Augustus II, Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach (1737-1758)
Deutsch: Mitte 18. Jh. Porträt des Ernst August II. Konstantin von Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach (1737-1758). Der Herzog starb noch nicht 21-jährig, hatte aber zwei Jahre zuvor bereits die Tochter des Herzogs Karl I. von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel, Anna Amalia (1739-1807) geehelicht. Diese legte unter ihrer langen vormundschaftlichen Regierung den Grundstein zur Weimarer Klassik. Auf unserem Gemälde trägt der Herzog den vom Vater 1732 gestifteten Hausorden vom Weißen Falken sowie den polnischen Orden des Weißen Adlers.
