Description
Deutsch: Das kleine Dorf Mödlareuth ist eine Besonderheit: Ein Teil liegt heute in Bayern, der andere in Thüringen. Mitten durch das Dorf führte die ehemalige Staatsgrenze der DDR, dadurch war Mödlareuth sozusagen ein „Miniatur-Berlin“ mit allem, was dazugehört: Im Kern des kleinen Ortes gab es eine 700 Meter lange Mauer und mehrfach gestaffelte Grenzbefestigungsanlagen. Heute befindet sich hier ein sehr sehenswertes Grenzmuseum; ansehen kann man u.a. einen Teil der Originalmauer, einen Wachturm, Hundelaufanlage und Militärfahrzeuge, darunter ein sowjetischer Panzer. Im Museumsgebäude gibt es eine kleine Ausstellung zur deutschen Teilung sowie Filmvorführungen.
English: The small village Mödlareuth is a special feature: A portion is now in Bavaria, the other in Thuringia. Right through the village led the former state border of the GDR, thereby Mödlareuth was sort of a " miniature Berlin " with all that that entails : At the core of the small town, there was a 700-meter long wall and repeatedly staggered border fortifications. Today it is a worth seeing Grenzmuseum; can i.a. view a part of the original wall, a watchtower, dog run and military vehicle , including a Soviet tank. In the building there is a small exhibition about the German division and screenings .
