English: The current coat of arms has been in use since the 17th century, although variations have been known since the 16th century. The upper part of the coat of arms originates from the county of Hanau-Lichtenberg. The lower part, the easter lamb, is a figure of speech, although the name of the municipality does not derive from the word (Schaf) sheep. The wolf’s mantle is an old local emblem and has been in use longer than today’s coat of arms. |
