Description
English: Viscount Eiichi Shibusawa (1840–1931) holds 2 friendship dolls. Sidney Gulick (1860-1945) sent about 12,739 "blue-eyed dolls" from the United States to Japan in 1927 in hopes of promoting goodwill between Japan and the United States. In return, Eiichi Shibusawa sent 58 "return dolls" to the United States in the same year.
日本語: 青い目の人形をもつ栄一。渋沢史料館 所蔵。親日家シドニー・ギューリックは日米親善を願って1927年に米国から約12,739体の「青い目の人形」を日本へ贈った。渋沢栄一らはその返礼として58体の「答礼人形」を同年米国へ贈った。
