Deutsch: Der Stadt Jülich das Recht zur Führung eines Wappens verliehen worden. „Das Stadtwappen zeigt einen in der Mitte geteilten Schild, in dessen linker Hälfte den Jülicher Löwen auf goldenem (gelbem) Feld, in der rechten Hälfte einen silbernen Doppelturm, am Fuße umgeben von einer Festungsmauer auf rotem Feld. Auf dem Schild steht eine hellrote Mauerkrone mit fünf Zinnen.“ (Heraldisch falsche Beschreibung). Hier die korrekte Blasonierung: „Gespalten in Gold (Gelb) und Rot, vorn (heraldisch rechts) ein steigender, schwarzer, rotbewehrter und -bezungter Löwe; hinten aus einer silbernen (weißen) zweireihigen, vierzinnigen Stadtmauer wachsend, zwei dreizinnige, unterschiedlich große silberne (weiße) Türme, darin in der oberen Hälfte zwei rote gotische Schallöffnungen; der rechte große und der linke kleinere Turm sind verbunden durch einen silbernen (weißen) Mittelbau mit rechtsschrägem Giebel, darin eine rote Kleeblattöffnung über einer roten gotischen Toröffnung. Im Oberwappen eine fünftürmige rote Mauerkrone, der zweite und vierte kleinere Turm zweizinnig und die großen Türme dreizinnig.“ Das Wappen ist eine Kombination aus dem ältesten Stadtsiegel dem Löwen des Herzogtums Jülich.
English: „The arms were granted on October 8, 1886 and are a combination of the old lion of the counts of Jülich and a part of a fortified town. Jülich became a city in 1238. It was fortified in 1280 and became one of the strongholds of the counts of Jülich. The first seal of the city, dating from around 1300, shows a shield with the lion placed before a castle. Smaller seals of the city only show the lion. The lion was used as arms of the city until this century when the present arms were devised.“
