Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappenbild ist schon um 1860 im Gemeindesiegel enthalten. Seit 1900 kommt es als besonderes Gemeindewappen vor, wobei die Grundfarbe noch lange zwischen Grün und Blau schwankte. Im Jahre 1964 bestimmte der Gemeinderat die Farben Weiss und Grün als offizielle Tinkturen. Das Wappenbild wird gelegentlich als Seerose gedeutet. Wahrscheinlicher ist jedoch die Anlehnung an «Fiora», den in Geschichtsquellen vorkommenden italienischen Namen für Flüelen. Nicht ausgeschlossen ist die Anspielung auf den vermuteten Zusammenhang der Herren von Rapperswil mit dem Flüeler Reichszoll.
