Object history
Deutsch: Bad Peterstal-Griesbach ist durch Eingemeindung von Bad Griesbach nach Bad Peterstal (Renchtal) am 1. Juli 1973 entstanden. Die Gemeinde führt das Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Peterstal, die 1920 das Prädikat „Bad" erhalten hatte, weiter. Dieses wurde mit der Flagge am 7. Oktober 1966 vom Innenministerium verliehen. Dem Wappen liegt das seit Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts in den Siegeln verwendete Bildmotiv zugrunde, das an die Ursprünge Peterstals erinnert. Im Umkreis einer ab 1293 erwähnten, dem Heiligen Petrus geweihten ehemaligen Kapelle entwickelte sich der Ort, dessen Heilquellen seit dem 14. Jahrhundert zu Badezwecken genutzt werden. Noch mehr als Peterstal ist der Ortsteil Griesbach vom Badebetrieb geprägt, der auf eine vierhundertjährige Tradition zurückblicken kann.
