Object history Die Gemeinde Thundorf besteht seit 1978 aus den ehemals selbstständigen Gemeinden Thundorf und Rothhausen sowie des Ortes Theinfeld, der früher zum Markt Massbach gehörte. Der Löwe ist dem in diesem Zusammenhang untergegangenen Wappen von Rothhausen entnommen. Er ist das Wappentier der Herren von Rosenbach, deren einstiges Herrschaftsgebiet sich weitgehend mit dem heutigen Gemeindegebiet deckt. Die beiden Reuthauen weisen auf die Entstehung des Ortes Rothhausen durch Rodung hin. Die Pflugschar stellt den landwirtschaftlichen Charakter von Theinfeld dar. Die Farben Silber und Rot sind die Farben Frankens.
