Object history |
English: Coat of arms of the Danish fortress town Fredericia based on seals from 1655 and 1664. The town's motto was "Pro pace armatus" (Armed for peace) which explains the laurel branch and scimitar. The tinctures or and gules are those of the Oldenburg dynasty, the royal family of Denmark.
Dansk: Fredericias byvåben. Kendt fra segl fra 1655 og 1664. Fæstningsbyens motto var "Pro pace armatus" (bevæbnet for fred) hvilket forklarer sablen og laurbærgrenen. Farverne rød og guld er taget fra Oldenburg-dynastiet, den danske kongefamilie. |
