Deutsch: „Das Wappen trägt auf silbernem Grund ein rotes Balkenkreuz, das mit einem aufgerichteten goldenen Schlüssel, dessen Bart nach links zeigt, belegt ist.“
English: „The arms were granted on July 20, 1961. Rheinberg received city rights from the bishop of Köln in 1232. The seals of the city always showed St. Peter the patron saint of Köln. The image varied widely during the centuries, but the arms were not seen on the seals. The arms first appear on the city hall in 1449 and have not changed ever since. The cross most likely is the cross of Köln, even though the colours are different (Köln has a black cross). The key is the symbol of St. Peter. The arms did not change after the merger with the other municipalities in 1974.“
