Object history
Deutsch: Das Schwert als Attribut des heiligen Martin verweist auf das Patrozinium der Pfarrkirche von Zeilarn, die auch als Grundherrschaft in der Gegend von Bedeutung war, und auf eine kunsthistorisch bedeutende Holzplastik des Heiligen, die in München aufbewahrt wird. Die goldenen Lilienstängel sind heraldisches Symbol für die Wallfahrtskirche Schildthurn, die zu den ältesten niederbayerischen Wallfahrten und zu den ältesten Kultplätzen in Bayern überhaupt gehört. Die Patroninnen, die drei heiligen Jungfrauen Einbet, Lilbet und Warbet, wurden vor allem im Mittelalter vom Volk verehrt; in der Zeit der Gegenreformation kam die Marienverehrung hinzu. Die Kirche ist auch wegen der vielen außergewöhnlichen Votivgaben bemerkenswert. Sie gilt wegen ihrer Bauform mit dem höchsten Dorfkirchenturm des Landes als Wahrzeichen der erst 1971 aus den bis dahin selbstständigen Gemeinden Gumpersdorf, Obertürken und Schildthurn neu gebildeten Gemeinde Zeilarn.
