Deutsch: Das Wappen des Landkreises Regensburg wurde am 17. September 1963 vom bayrischen Innenminister verliehen und am 26. September 1972 von der Regierung der Oberpfalz bestätigt. Die bayerischen Rauten sind die Symbole der wittelsbachischen Herrschaftsrechte in den im Landkreisgebiet gelegenen kurbayerischen und pfalz-neuburgischen Gerichten und Ämtern. Der silberne Schrägbalken in Rot ist das Wappen des Hochstifts Regensburg, das seit 1267 als bischöfliches Siegelbild nachweisbar ist. Es erinnert an die bis zu Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts ausgeübten landesherrlichen Rechte des Bischofs von Regensburg im Gebiet entlang der Donau. Das Tatzenkreuz stammt aus dem Wappen des Klosters Prüfening und weist stellvertretend darauf hin, dass viele Klöster und andere geistliche Einrichtungen umfangreichen Streubesitz im Landkreis Regensburg hatten.
English: The arms were granted on September 17, 1963 and confirmed on September 26, 1972. The chief shows the lozenges of Bavaria as several estates were for centuries possessions of the Dukes of Bayern. The bend Argent is derived from the arms of the Bishopric of Bishopric of Regensburg, which also held several parts of thearea. The cross pattée symbolises the Benedictine Abbey of Prüfening, the largest of the many former monasteries in the district.
