Object history
Deutsch: Die Familie von Gevertzhagen, erstmals urkundlich erwähnt 1220, weist später die Seitenlinie "Gevertzhagen von Luitgenrode" auf, mit ihrer Burg zwischen Elkenroth und Dickendorf, der sogenannten "Hildburg". Für sie steht der Zinnenschnitt im Schildhaupt. Als Wappen führt die Familie von Gevertzhagen "von Gebhardsayn gen. von Lützerath" in Rot drei schrägrechts aneinander gereihte weiße Rauten. Dieses Wappen findet sich heute noch in einem Fenster der Kirche Elkenroth, indes mit schräglinker Anordnung der Rauten. Elkenroth verehrt als Kirchen- und Ortspatronin die heilige Elisabeth. Deren Attribut, eine Rose, steht ebenfalls im unteren Schildteil. Das Wappen der Ortsgemeinde Elkenroth wurde im Jahre 1987 eingeführt.
