The Residents on yhdysvaltalainen avantgarde-yhtye. Yhtye perustettiin Shreveportissa, Louisianassa[1] vuonna 1969.

Yhtye on musiikin lisäksi julkaissut myös erilaisia kuvataide- ja multimediateoksia, muun muassa lyhytelokuva-, CD-ROM- ja DVD-muodossa. Yhtyeen jäsenten henkilöllisyydet ovat salaisia, ja yhtyeen puolesta haastatteluita antavat managerit ja muut yhtyeen palkkaamat henkilöt. Yhtyeen jäsenet esiintyvät aina naamioituneita, esimerkiksi frakeissa, silinterihatuissa ja päässään suuri silmämunanaamari.

The Residents esiintymässä Tavastia-klubilla toukokuussa 2013.

Yhtye esiintyi Suomessa Tavastia-klubilla 6. toukokuuta 2013.[2]
