Yhtye tunnetaan lähinnä hitistään ”Incense and Peppermints”, joka on oman alansa klassikkokappale. Kappale, joka oli myös yhtyeen ensimmäinen single, nousi vuonna 1967 Billboardin pop-listan ykköspaikalle.[1] Toiseksi korkein listasijoitus oli seuraavana vuonna julkaistu ”Tomorrow”, joka nousi pop-listalla sijalle 23. Yhtye lopetti vuonna 1971.

Yhtyeen alkuperäinen kokoonpano oli Ed King (kitara), Mark Weitz (koskettimet), Lee Freeman (komppikitara), Gary Lovetro (basso) ja Randy Seol (rummut). Näistä Ed King liittyi myöhemmin Lynyrd Skynyrd -yhtyeeseen.
