Shiromani Akali Dal

Shiromani Akali Dal (lyh. SAD) on intialainen puolue. Suurinta puolueen kannatus on Punjabin osavaltion sikhien keskuudessa, ja se on Intian kansanpuolueen (BJP) vanhimpia liittolaisia.[1] Puolue pitää itseään sikhien pääasiallisena edustajana, joka tuo esille sikheille tärkeitä asioita.[2] Puolueen läheisistä väleistä Intian kansanpuolueeseen, ja sen johtamaan vaaliliittoon (NDA), kertoo puheenjohtajan vuonna 2018 antama kommentti, jonka mukaan Akali Dal on BJP:n ikuinen liittolainen.[3]

Puolueen nykyisen puheenjohtajan Sukhbir Singh Badalin isä Parkash Singh Badal on toiminut viisi kautta Punjabin pääministerinä.[4] Vuonna 2017 puolue hävisi Punjabin osavaltiovaaleissa eikä päässyt muodostamaan hallitusta.[2]
