Pepe Deluxé

Pepe Deluxé on vuonna 1996 perustettu suomalainen elektronista musiikkia tekevä yhtye. Yhtyeen perustivat Helsingissä DJ Slow (Vellu Maurola), JA-Jazz (Tomi Paajanen) ja James Spectrum (Jari Salo). Yhtye alkoi tehdä konemusiikkia, jossa vaikuttavat breakbeat, big beat, downtempo ja hip hop. DJ Slow jätti yhtyeen 2001 keskittyäkseen sooloprojekteihinsa, JA-Jazz ei ole ollut aktiivisena jäsenenä vuodesta 2008. Multi-instrumentalisti Paul Malmströmistä tuli yhtyeen virallinen jäsen vuonna 2008.

Yhtyeen kokoonpano keikoilla on: Tommi Lindell (modulaarisyntetisaattori, vocoder), Miikka Paatelainen (kitara, basso, Theremin), Markku Reinikainen (rummut), James Spectrum (miksaus, perkussiot) ja Edward Greendanger (VJ).

Pepe Deluxén tekemä musiikki on soinut muun muassa Lee Jeansin ja Leviksen maailmanlaajuisissa farkkumainoksissa. Kappale ”Before You Leave” nousi Levi’s-mainonnan myötä kansainväliseksi hitiksi ja sai vuoden parhaan mainosmusiikin palkinnon Cannesin mainosfestivaaleilla.[1]

Kauppalehden Pressossa kesäkuussa 2007 James Spectrum kertoi yhtyeen mahdollisesti olevan Suomen kaupallisin, ainakin mainoslisensseillä mitattuna.

Duo teki ensimmäisen live-esiintymisensä Suomessa joulukuussa 2006.

Spare Time Machine -albumia on ollut tekemässä James Spectrumin ja JA-Jazzin lisäksi myös suuri joukko muita henkilöitä.
