Allan Holdsworth
Allan Holdsworth (6. elokuuta 1946 – 16. huhtikuuta 2017[1]) oli brittiläinen jazz-kitaristi ja säveltäjä. Holdsworth tunnettiin parhaiten virtuoosimaisen nopeasta soittotekniikastaan, erilaisista dissonanteista sävellajeista ja SynthAxe-kitarasyntetisaattorin käyttämisestä. Holdsworthin tuotanto koostui pääosin instrumentaalisoololevyistä, vaikka hän esiintyi myös muun muassa Level 42 -yhtyeessä. Holdsworth tuli 1970-luvulla tunnetuksi soittaessaan muun muassa Tony Williamsin, Nucleusin, Tempestin, Gongin, U.K.:n ja Jean-Luc Pontyn levyillä.

Holdsworthia pidettiin yhtenä modernin kitaransoiton uudistajista ja hänen soittotyylinsä poikkesi huomattavasti perinteisestä jazztyylistä. Holdsworthin soitto perustui kitaran otelaudan näkemiseen joukkona symmetrisiä kuvioita, joita hyödyntämällä hän kehitti oman nopeatempoisen, molempia käsiä tehokkaasti hyödyntävän soittotyylinsä, jossa oli huomattavan paljon vaikutteita virtuoosisaksofonistien kuten John Coltranen soitosta.
Musiikin ohella Holdsworth oli intohimoinen olutharrastaja, pyöräilijä[2] ja keksijä. Oman tuotantonsa suhteen Holdsworth oli äärimmäisen kriittinen ja on täysin tyytyväinen vain pieneen osaan aikaansaannoksistaan.lähde?
