Alestorm

Alestorm (vuoteen 2007 asti Battleheart) on Perthissä Skotlannissa vuonna 2004 perustettu folk metallia soittava yhtye. Kappaleissaan yhtye kertoo tarinoita merirosvoista. Yhtye kutsuukin omaa musiikkiaan ”skottilaiseksi merirosvometalliksi”[1]. Alestormin esikoisalbumi Captain Morgan's Revenge ilmestyi Napalm Recordsin kautta 25. tammikuuta 2008. Sitä ennen yhtye julkaisi vanhalla nimellään kaksi omakustanne-EP:tä.

Yhtye perustettiin vuonna 2004 nimellä Battleheart, Christopher Bowesin ja Gavin Harperin studioprojektina. Alun perin yhtyeen oli tarkoitus soittaa power metallia, mutta kappaleen "Heavy Metal Pirates" menestys vakuutti yhtyeen pysyvästi hyväksymään merirosvo-teeman ja sisällyttämään folk metal -elementtejä musiikkiinsa. Yhtye on saavuttanut suurta menestystä maailmanlaajuisesti.
