John Ingleby Galesko iparraldeko Helygain (ingelesez, Halkyn) herrian jaio zen, 1749an, Hugh Ingleby eta Ann Davies gurasoek eratutako hamar seme-alabako familia batean.[2]
Eliz erregistroek diotenez, Ingleby artisaua zen, eta denda txiki baten jabe. Dendaren espezialitatea margolan txikiak ziren. Akuarelak margotu zituen Thomas Pennant naturalista eta zaharkin saltzailearentzat. 1808an hil zen.[3]
Galesko Liburutegi Nazionalean[4] badute akuarela margolanen bilduma aberats bat, Ipar Galesko paisaiekin, Inglebyk margotua.[5][6]
