Emeek normalki obipositore berezia dute, arrautzak bestela ezinezkoa litzatekeen lekuetan jartzeko. Obipositore hau askotan arantza batean eraldatua agertzen da. Gazteak metamorfosi osoz eraldatzen dira, hau da, holometabolikoak dira. Himenopteroen artean sexua kromosoma kopuruaren arabera ebazten da eta sistema haplodiploidea erabiltzen dute.
