Machina/The Machines of God ist das fünfte Album der Smashing Pumpkins. An den kommerziellen Erfolg der vorherigen Alben konnte es nicht anknüpfen. Bis zum Mai 2005 wurde das Album in den USA lediglich 582.000 Mal verkauft. Das nachfolgende Album Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music wurde nur im Internet veröffentlicht.
