সিরিয়া (অঞ্চল)
সিরিয়া অঞ্চল (আরবি: ٱلشَّام, Ash-Shām; চিত্রলিপীয় লুওয়াইন: Sura/i; গ্রিক: Συρία) হল ভূমধ্যসাগরের পূর্ব দিকে অবস্থিত একটি অঞ্চল। আধুনিক সাহিত্যে এই অঞ্চলটি বৃহত্তর সিরিয়া (سُوْرِيَّة ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ, Sūrīyah al-Kubrā),[1] "সিরিয়া-প্যালেস্টাইন",[2] বা লেভান্ট[3] নামে পরিচিত। প্রাচীন কাল থেকে অঞ্চলটি শাসন করেছে বিভিন্ন জাতি ও সাম্রাজ্য। যেমন প্রাচীন মিশরীয়, কনানীয়, ইজরায়েলীয়, আসিরীয়, ব্যাবিলোনিয়া, আখমেনিদ সাম্রাজ্য, প্রাচীন ম্যাসিডনিয়া, আর্মেনীয়, রোমান সাম্রাজ্য, বাইজান্টাইন সাম্রাজ্য, রাশিদুন খিলাফত, উমায়াদ খিলাফত, আব্বাসিদ খিলাফত, ফাতিমীয় খিলাফত, ক্রুসেডারগণ, আয়ুবিদ রাজবংশ, মামলুক সালতানাত, উসমানীয় খিলাফত, যুক্তরাজ্য ও ফরাসি তৃতীয় প্রজাতন্ত্র।

The western coastline and the eastern deserts set the boundaries for the Levant ...
