যাস্ক ছিলেন প্রাচীন ভারতীয়[2] ব্যাকরণবিদ[3][4] এবং ভাষাবিদ[5] (৭ম-৫ম শতাব্দী খ্রিস্টপূর্বাব্দ[1])। পাণিনি  (৭ম-৪র্থ শতাব্দী খ্রিস্টপূর্বাব্দ[6][7][8]), ঐতিহ্যগতভাবে তাকে সংস্কৃত ব্যাকরণগত ঐতিহ্যের মধ্যে ব্যুৎপত্তি, নিঘন্টু ও নিরুক্তের লেখক হিসেবে চিহ্নিত করা হয়।[9]
