১৯৯১ সালের ৮ ই অক্টোবর, ১৯৯১ সালের বাংলাদেশের রাষ্ট্রপতি নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছিল। [1][2] সংসদীয় ব্যবস্থা পুনরুদ্ধারের পর এটিই প্রথম পরোক্ষ নির্বাচন ছিল। [3][4] আবদুর রহমান বিশ্বাসকে ক্ষমতাসীন দল মনোনীত করেছিল। নির্বাচনের জন্য প্রার্থী হওয়ার মতো অন্য কোনও প্রার্থী না থাকায় তিনি বিনা প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতায় নির্বাচনে জয়ী হয়েছিলেন [5] । আবদুর রহমান বিশ্বাস রাষ্ট্রপতির কার্যালয়ের শপথ গ্রহণ করেন এবং ১৯৯১ সালের ১০ই অক্টোবর দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ করেন। [6][7]
