অশ্লীল যৌনচিত্রণ বা ইংরেজি পরিভাষায় পর্নোগ্রাফি (সংক্ষেপে "পর্ন" বা "পর্নো" অনানুষ্ঠানিক ব্যবহারে) বলতে পাঠক-দর্শক-শ্রোতার দেহমনে যৌন উদ্দীপনা সৃষ্টির উদ্দেশ্যে যৌন বিষয়বস্তুর খোলামেলা ও পুঙ্খানুপুঙ্খ বর্ণনা বা চিত্রণকে বোঝায়। অশ্লীল যৌনচিত্রণ বিভিন্ন মাধ্যমের সাহায্যে উপস্থাপন করা হতে পারে, যার মধ্যে বই, সাময়িকী, পোষ্টকার্ড, আলোকচিত্র, ভাস্কর্য, রেখাচিত্র, রঙচিত্র, সচলচিত্র, ধারণকৃত শব্দ, চলচ্চিত্র, ভিডিও এবং ভিডিও গেম অন্তর্ভুক্ত। অশ্লীল যৌনচিত্রণবিশিষ্ট সৃষ্টিকর্মকে "অশ্লীল সৃষ্টিকর্ম" বলে এবং একেও ইংরেজিতে "পর্নোগ্রাফি" বলা হয়।

প্রাগৈতিহাসিক কাল থেকেই যৌনচিত্র বিদ্যমান রয়েছে। পর্নোগ্রাফি হিসাবে বিবেচিত প্রাচীনতম নিদর্শনগুলো ২০০৮ সালে জার্মানিতে আবিষ্কৃত হয়েছিল, যেগুলোর বয়স কমপক্ষে ৩৫,০০০ বছর। আদিরসাত্মক রূপায়নের ইতিহাস জুড়ে, সমাজের বিভিন্ন গোষ্ঠী এগুলোকে ক্ষতিকারক বলে মনে করেছে এবং অশ্লীলতা আইনের অধীনে তাদের দমন করার চেষ্টা করেছে অথবা সেন্সর বা অবৈধ করেছে। বিভিন্ন ঐতিহাসিক, সাংস্কৃতিক এবং জাতীয় প্রেক্ষাপটে পর্নোগ্রাফির সংজ্ঞাও ভিন্ন রকম। খ্রিস্টীয় তৃতীয় শতাব্দীতে লেখা ভারতীয় সংস্কৃত পাঠ কামসূত্রে যৌন আচরণ সম্পর্কিত গদ্য, কবিতা এবং চিত্রাবলী রয়েছে। যদিও ব্রিটিশ ইংরেজি পাঠ্য ফ্যানি হিল (১৭৪৮) -কে "প্রথম আদি ইংরেজি গদ্য পর্নোগ্রাফি" হিসেবে বিবেচনা করা হয়। এটি ইতিহাসের সর্বাধিক অভিযুক্ত এবং নিষিদ্ধ বইগুলোর মধ্যে অন্যতম। ১৯ শতকের শেষের দিকে, টমাস এডিসনের চুম্বনদৃশ্য সম্বলিত একটি চলচ্চিত্রকে মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে অশ্লীল বলে নিন্দা করা হয়েছিল । অপরদিকে ১৮৯৬ সালে ইউজিন পিরোর চলচ্চিত্র বেডটাইম ফর দ্য ব্রাইড ফ্রান্সে খুব ভালভাবে গৃহীত হয়েছিল। বিংশ শতাব্দীর মাঝামাঝি থেকে শুরু করে, পশ্চিমা বিশ্বে যৌনতার প্রতি সামাজিক দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি আরও নম্র হয়ে ওঠে এবং অশ্লীলতার আইনি সংজ্ঞা সীমিত হয়ে যায়। ১৯৬৯ সালে অ্যান্ডি ওয়ারহলের ব্লু মুভি (ফাক নামেও পরিচিত) ছিল অকৃত্রিম যৌনতা চিত্রণকারী প্রথম চলচ্চিত্র যা মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের অনেক থিয়েটারে মুক্তি পেয়েছিল। এরই ধারাবাহিকতায় এসেছিল " পর্নোগ্রাফির স্বর্ণযুগ " (১৯৬৯ – ১৯৮৪) যা ছিল এমন এক সময়কাল যখন অনেক উচ্চ মানের পর্নোগ্রাফিক চলচ্চিত্র প্রেক্ষাগৃহে প্রদর্শিত হয় এবং জনপ্রিয় সংস্কৃতির অংশ হয়ে ওঠে। ২০ শতকের শেষদিকে হোম ভিডিও এবং ওয়ার্ল্ড ওয়াইড ওয়েবের প্রবর্তনের ফলে পর্নোগ্রাফি ব্যবসা বিশ্বব্যাপী প্রসারিত হয়। ২১ শতকের শুরু থেকে, ইন্টারনেটের ব্যাপক ব্যবহার এবং সাশ্রয়ী মূল্যের স্মার্টফোন পর্নোগ্রাফিকে মূলধারার সংস্কৃতিতে পরিণত করতে সক্ষম হয়।

পর্নোগ্রাফি যারা একজন সঙ্গী খুঁজে পায় না বা চায় না তাদের যৌন মুক্তির জন্য সহায়ক ভূমিকা পালন করে। এটি যারা সম্পর্ক নিয়ে সন্তুষ্ট নয় তাদের যৌন আকাঙ্ক্ষা পূরণের একটি নিরাপদ উপায় হিসেবেও বিবেচিত হয়। পর্নোগ্রাফিকে প্রায়শই সাংবাদিকতার সাথে তুলনা করা হয় কারণ উভয়ই একটি মানব সমাজের অজানা বা লুকানো দিকগুলো তুলে ধরে। গবেষণা মানুষের পর্নোগ্রাফি ব্যবহার করার জন্য চারটি প্রধান প্রেরণার সন্ধান পেয়েছে, যথা: "ফ্যান্টাসি, অভ্যাসগত ব্যবহার, মেজাজ ব্যবস্থাপনা এবং কোনো সম্পর্কের অংশ হিসেবে পর্নোগ্রাফি ব্যবহার করা।" সাধারণ মানুষ বিভিন্ন কারণে পর্নোগ্রাফি দেখে; তাদের যৌন উত্তেজনাকে সমৃদ্ধ করার প্রয়োজনীয়তা থেকে শুরু করে, হস্তমৈথুনের জন্য সহায়ক হিসেবে,সহজে অর্গাজম করতে, যৌন কৌশল শিখতে, মানসিক চাপ কমাতে, একঘেয়েমি দূর করতে, নিজেদের উপভোগ করতে, নিজেদের মত মানুষকে প্রতিনিধিত্ব করতে দেখতে, যৌনতা অন্বেষণ করতে, যৌন অভিমুখিতা জানতে, রোমান্টিক সম্পর্ক উন্নত করতে অথবা কেবল তাদের সঙ্গীর ইচ্ছা পূরণে।

অশ্লীল চলচ্চিত্রের অভিনেতাদের পর্নোগ্রাফিক অভিনেতা (বা অভিনেত্রী) বলা হয়ে থাকে। তাদেরকে ইংরেজিতে সাধারণত পর্ন স্টার (অশ্লীল চলচ্চিত্র তারকা) নামে ডাকা হয়। মূলধারার অভিনেতা-অভিনেত্রীদের তুলনায় এদের অভিনয়ের গুণমানও সাধারণত পৃথক হয়। শখের অশ্লীল চলচ্চিত্র এই শিল্পের জনপ্রিয় একটি ধারা এবং তা ইন্টারনেটের মাধ্যমে বিনামূল্যে বিতরিত হয়ে থাকে।

সরাসরি দর্শকদের সামনে যৌন ক্রিয়াকলাপ আচরিত হলে তাকে সংজ্ঞা অনুসারে অশ্লীল যৌনচিত্রণ বলা হয় না, কেননা অশ্লীল যৌনচিত্রণ হল ঐ ধরনের আচরণের বর্ণনা। এই কারণে যৌনক্রিয়া প্রদর্শনী (সেক্স শো) ও বস্ত্রমোচন (স্ট্রিপটিজ) জাতীয় প্রদর্শনীকে অশ্লীল যৌনচিত্রণের পর্যায়ভুক্ত করা হয় না।

দেশভেদে অশ্লীল যৌনচিত্রণ শিল্পে নগ্নতার প্রদর্শনী ও আলোকচিত্রগ্রহণের প্রতি সাংস্কৃতিক ও আইনগত দৃষ্টিভঙ্গির পার্থক্য লক্ষিত হয়।
