Pax Britannica

Pax Britannica (Paks Britannika; hərf. Britaniya sülhü) — böyük dövlətlər arasında nisbi sülh dövrü üçün istifadə edilən termin. Bu müddət ərzində Britaniya imperiyası qlobal hegemon gücə çevrilmiş, əlavə qeyri-rəsmi imperiya formalaşdırmış və "qlobal polis" rolunu qəbul etmişdir.[1][2]

1815–1914-cü illərdə Britaniyanın "imperator əsri" adlandırılan dövrdə[3] [4] təxminən 10,000,000 kvadrat mil (26,000,000 km2) ərazi və 400 milyon insan Britaniya imperiyasına daxil olmuşdur. [5] Napoleon Fransası üzərində qələbə britaniyalıları Orta Asiyada Rusiyadan başqa heç bir ciddi beynəlxalq rəqibsiz qoymuşdur.[6] Rusiya Balkanlarda təsirini genişləndirməyə çalışmışdı, lakin britaniyalılar və fransızlar Krım müharibəsində onları məğlub etmiş, bununla da zəifləmiş Osmanlı imperiyasını qorumuşdular.

Britaniya tacirləri, yükgöndərənləri və bankirləri digər imperiyalara nisbətən o qədər böyük üstünlüyə malik idilər ki, onun müstəmləkələri ilə yanaşı, qeyri-rəsmi imperiyası da var idi.[7][8][9]
