Həyat və fəaliyyəti

Artur Nevill Çemberlen 18 mart 1869-cu ildə Birminhemdə anadan olmuşdur. 1918-ci ildən parlament deputatı, 1930–1931-ci illərdə Mühafizəkarlar partiyasının sədri, 1937–1940-cı illərdə isə Böyük Britaniyanın baş naziri olmuşdur. Faşist təcavüzünü SSRİ-yə qarşı yönəltmək məqsədilə Çemberlen hökuməti Hitler Almaniyasına bir sıra güzəştlərə getmiş, Moskva danışıqlarına (1939) rəğmən Almaniya ilə gizli sövdələşməyə cəhd göstərmişdir. Lakin Çemberlen hökumətinin bu siyasəti boşa çıxdıqdan sonra Böyük Britaniya əlverişsiz bir şəraitdə İkinci dünya müharibəsinə qoşulmuşdu. 1940-cı il, mayın 10-da istefa verməyə məcbur olmuş və elə həmin ilin noyabrın 9-da vəfat etmişdir.
