Iridoideae Klatt ye una de les 4 subfamilies nes que subdividen la familia de les iridáceas (Iridaceae). Les especies nesta subfamilia presenten tépalos separaos, flores con simetría radial, estilos petaloideos y rizomas (raramente bulbos). Ye una subfamilia especializada tantu n'aspeutos florales como fitoquímicos, con distribución global anque predominantemente del Hemisferiu Sur.

Ye la única subfamilia de les iridáceas con representantes en Suramérica.

Los xéneros tradicionalmente reconocíos Bernardiella, Galaxa, Gynandiris, Hexaglottis, Homeria, Sessilstigma y Roggeveldia, fueron incluyíos nel xéneru africanu Moraea.[1] Per otru llau, los xéneros americanos de Iridaceae Salpingostylis, Cardiostigma y Itysa fueron incluyíos dientro del xéneru Calydorea.[2] Coles mesmes, estudios moleculares y filoxenéticos dexaron incluyir a los xéneros monotípicos d'orixe asiáticu Belamcanda y Pardanthopsis en Iris.[3]
