George Nichols (28 d'ochobre de 1864, Rockford ^(es)  – 20 de setiembre de 1927, Hollywood) foi un actor y direutor cinematográficu d'Estaos Xuníos. Pioneru del cine mudu, actuó en más de doscientos filmes y dirixó cuasi un centenar. El so nome ta principalmente amestáu al de Charlie Chaplin, a quien dirixó nes sos primeres actuaciones nel cine en comedies de dos rollos de Keystone Studios en 1914. Actuó nun total de 222 filmes ente 1908 y 1928, amás de dirixir 95 dende 1911 a 1916.

Biografía

Nacíu en Rockford, Illinois, Nichols empecipióse como actor en 1908, empezando a dirixir pa Keystone en 1913, exiliáu de Biograph Company como'l so colega Henry Lehrman y otros actores, ente ellos Mabel Normand y Fred Maze, formando con ellos el nucleu históricu de la productora de Mack Sennett.

Nichols dirixó a Mabel Normand, a Fatty, y a Chaplin en cuatro curtios, sustituyendo a Henry Lehrman, que lo dirixiera nel so debú cinematográficu. Sicasí, la rellación profesional ente dambos nun foi bona.

La última actuación de Nichols tuvo llugar en The Wedding March (1928), película empobinada por Erich von Stroheim.

George Nichols finó en 1927 en Hollywood, California.Foi soterráu nel Campusantu Forest Lawn Memorial Park de Glendale, California. El so fíu, George Nichols Jr., foi tamién direutor cinematográficu.
