Acronicta ye un xéneru de lepidópteros que contién unes 150 especies distribuyíes principalmente nes rexones templaes del Holárticu, con delles n'en l'axacentes rexones subtropicales. [2][3][4] Les canesbes de la mayoría de les especies de Acronicta son inconfundibles, con picos de pelu de colores brillosos, y aliméntense bien visiblemente nes fueyes de los árboles comunes. la canesba de la poliya Acronicta oblinita ye inusualmente peluda, inclusive pa esti xéneru.[5].

Les especies de Acronicta conócense xeneralmente como poliyas daga, una y bones la mayoría tienen una o más marques de puñales negru na parte cimera de les sos ales anteriores. Sicasí, delles especies tienen un aniellu escuru marcáu nel so llugar.
