Swawel-32 is die isotoop wat die volopste voorkom en die rede daarvoor dat is dit volop gevorm word gedurende die suurstofverbrandingsfase van 'n supernova-ontploffing.[2] Hierdie proses word ook die alfaproses genoem. Die isotoop word saam met 40Ca, 36Ar, 48Cr, 52Fe en 56Ni as een van die alfa-kerne beskou.[3]

Vanweë sy kernspin van I=0 is hierdie isotoop nie vir kernmagnetiese resonansie geskik nie.
